Seeking community members to sing onstage in Lucas Hnath’s The Christians
The Wilma seeks singers of all ethnicities, ages 18 and up, regardless of faith, to audition to be part of a praise/gospel choir that will perform onstage during Lucas Hnath’s play The Christians, which runs at the Wilma from May 4-29, 2016. All chosen participants must have a strong voice and clear diction, an understanding of harmony, and an ability to quickly learn and remember vocal parts. Familiarity with traditional evangelical gospel and praise hymns is helpful but not necessary; hymns to be performed may include “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand,” “Catch on Fire,” “Farther Along,” and “I Feel Like Goin’ On.”
Auditions will be held December 5th and 6th, beginning at 2pm each day, at The Wilma Theater (265 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107). Auditionees should prepare one stanza of “Amazing Grace” to perform a cappella. If chosen to perform, all choir members must be available for four rehearsals in March and April, and for performances that will run May 4 through May 29, 2016. To sign up, contact Nell Bang-Jensen at 215-893-9456 x111, or email her at email@example.com. To learn more about The Christians and Lucas Hnath, click here.
