Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion at The Wilma Theater on April 7th, immediately following the 2 PM performance.

Open to all Wilma ticket holders, this conversation will explore the question, “Are we good?” The panelists, including Justin Jain, Pauli Reese, Lindsay Smiling, and moderated by Anne Ishii, will discuss striving for ‘goodness’ in the BIPOC theater community. From celebrating cultural successes to navigating the journey toward racial equity, don’t miss this insightful dialogue on collective progress!

Meet pauli reese

pauli reese is a full-time arts entrepreneur, whose work includes production, music direction, content creation, and storytelling. They have produced, designed, and/or performed in show for Freestyle Love Supreme Academy, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Tank NYC, First Person Arts, MuralArts Philadelphia, Yale University, Columbia University, and most recently ComedySportz Philly, where they are the musical director and showrunner of Off the Record: The Improvised Music Documentary.

Recent collaborators include: Tarik Davis (The Amber Ruffin Show on Peacock), Anthony “Two-Touch” Veneziale (Freestyle Love Supreme), Hope Hall (Principal Presidential Videographer, Obama, Biden, Harris) and Chief Adam Waterbear (Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania).

Meet Anne Ishii

Anne Ishii is the Executive Director of Asian Arts Initiative, which has operated with a mission to “create community through the power of art” in the North Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia since 1993. Anne is a writer and editor by trade, with a background in Japanese letters. Her work hinges on issues relating to gender and sexuality. In 2013 she co-founded MASSIVE GOODS: a lifestyle brand and arts agency representing queer and feminist artists from Japan. MASSIVE has produced multiple volumes of graphic novels and a line of clothing and accessories. She has been published in BUST, Nylon, Slate, Publishers Weekly, the Village Voice, the Philadelphia Inquirer and many other publications. She has translated and rewritten over twenty books.
