The Wilma Internship Program provides opportunities to gain valuable experience working at a highly respected regional theater. Interns will learn new skills while being mentored by experienced theater professionals.
Our interns serve an important function at the Wilma and are treated as valued members of the staff. Although all interns apply to work within a specific department, interns will likely assist in other departments at some point during their internship due to the Wilma’s collaborative work environment.
A typical intern will:
Positions usually begin around the start of each academic semester, but there is some flexibility with start and end times.
Artistic/Literary Interns will assist Artistic and Literary departments in reading and reporting on scripts, helping to maintain our literary database, doing dramaturgical research related to the plays of our season, assisting with auditions, helping to maintain our actor database, assisting with special events, and performing clericals duties such as copying, scanning, and various other administrative tasks. Interns are also able to observe HotHouse Company sessions and rehearsals and may assist with administrative work to support the HotHouse Company, such as taking line notes on productions and general notetaking in meetings. Many former interns have gone on to graduate school and work at institutions such as Actors Theatre of Louisville, Playwrights Horizons and The O’Neill. Candidates must have academic and practical experience in theater, and display strong written, verbal and analytical skills.
The Wilma Theater seeks someone with an interest in learning about a Regional Theater Artistic department, with some administrative experience, to serve as Artistic Intern.

The Artistic Intern will contribute meaningfully to the organizational culture of the Wilma and will advocate to advance our values on an organizational, local, and national scale. Position Summary
The Artistic Intern reports to the Associate Producer and supports the work of the Artistic Department, which also includes the Artistic Director cohort and the Associate Artistic Director.

Position Qualifications
Candidates must have academic and practical experience in theater, and display strong written, verbal, and analytical skills. The ideal candidate is proficient in remote-work software and systems, with the ability to learn our Microsoft 365, and project management and video conference tools.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time (10 hours a week), temporary, non-exempt role with compensation of $15/hour.
