I’m excited to share some leadership news from the Wilma with you! Next season, Lindsay Smiling will become our sole Artistic Director, and I’m honored to lead the theater forward with him. To celebrate this news alongside the opening of The America Play, which Lindsay directs and performs in, is meaningful and fitting.
I have come to know Lindsay in his Co-Artistic Director role as a collaborator of immense depth and care. Lindsay’s first professional acting role was here at the Wilma in 2003, he’s a founding member of the HotHouse Acting Company, and he’s become a fixture on stages locally. This update marks the ongoing evolution of the Wilma, allowing us to renew our commitment to the HotHouse Acting Company, our audiences, and our nearly 50 years (yes, 50!) of risk-taking work.
We are deeply grateful for the expertise, artistry, and care current Co-Artistic Directors Morgan Green and Yury Urnov have brought to the Wilma and look forward to ongoing collaboration, including Yury’s upcoming production of The Little Prince.
Thank you for supporting us throughout every step of the journey to put the Wilma on the map as a fearless, world-class arts institution. We hope you’ll celebrate this news with us at The America Play, on stage now through May 31st – this challenging and risk-taking show is a fitting end to our season and beginning of the next act with Lindsay at the helm.
