Rayya El Zein holds a PhD in Theatre and Performance from the Graduate Center, CUNY (2016). Her research has focused on politics and popular culture in the Arabic-speaking world. She has published, taught courses, and mentored students exploring Arab media and politics; Middle Eastern theatre, performance, and ritual; and various aspects of globalization, interculturalism, and popular music.
