Nina Ryser

Nina Ryser is a Philadelphia-based musician, performer and composer. Her interest in songwriting and recording began in her childhood bedroom, and eventually led to her path in composition. Nina’s work has been performed by ensembles at the New England Conservatory of Music and SUNY Purchase, and the American Symphony Orchestra at Bard College. Her lifelong dedication to the DIY-spirit has culminated in seven albums of her solo experimental-pop project, all of which she performed, engineered and mixed in her home recording studio. She has toured throughout the US and Canada with her solo project, accompanied by different instrumentalists. Over the years Nina has played in too many bands to count, Palberta being one of them – an art-punk/pop trio from 2013-2023, whose 8 full-length records were released to critical acclaim by the New York Times, NPR Music, Rollingstone and Pitchfork, and live sessions featured on NPR Tiny Desk and Audiotree. Nina is currently working on a synth-based score for a short sci-fi film, as well as a multi-instrumental score for a feature-length film. In September 2024, Nina will be touring in Europe in support of her upcoming solo record on Dear Life Records. She is beyond thrilled to be a part of HILMA at Wilma!
