GRANVILLE MULLINGS, JR. is a GRAMMY-nominated songwriter, composer, and drummer who was born and raised in “Money Earnin’” Mount Vernon, NY. Granville’s professional journey began in the world of theater at the age of 19, where he wrote and performed for “From Hoofin’ 2 Hittin’: Witness the Dance, Feel the Beat” at the National Black Theatre of Harlem. While in NYC, Granville studied with the late, great Joe Morello. He later pursued his musical studies at Berklee College of Music, under the guidance of esteemed mentors including Terri Lyne Carrington. Today, Granville is a versatile composer, producer, and musician, with his work featured on numerous recordings including those of Elle Winston, Kate Vargas, and Divinity Roxx on the GRAMMY-nominated album “Ready, Set, Go!” Apart from producing records for emerging artists, Granville frequently tours with bassist and rapper Divinity Roxx (known for collaborations with Beyoncé and Victor Wooten), performing at prestigious venues such as The White House and The Kennedy Center. Granville actively collaborates with The Trilogy Opera Company, spearheaded by American opera singer Kevin Maynor and featuring talents like Tuffus Zimbabwe (from SNL) and most recently Danny Glover. A passionate advocate for accessible music education, Granville has partnered with local organizations to support music programs in schools. He also runs a successful teaching studio, welcoming aspiring musicians from the local community and beyond, offering both in-person sessions and virtual one-on-one lessons for students across the nation and around the world. Granville is a member of the Recording Academy, Class of 2023, a GRAMMYU mentor and serves on The Recording Academy Advocacy Committee, NY Chapter.
