The panel is hosted by Kellie Mcleary and features the show’s dramaturg, Jackie Tilestont, librettist Katie Scelsa, and Sam McDermott an Engineer at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. The conversation will explore the life of Hilma af Flint, sources of inspiration, celebrating queer artists, and the mysteries of the universe.
Jackie Tileston is an artist who lives and works in Philadelphia, where she is a Professor in Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania. She teaches a seminar called Mystics and Visionaries: Art and Other Ways of Knowing that focuses on the work of Hilma af Klint and other artists working with non-ordinary states of consciousness. Tilestons paintings are heterotopic spaces in which recombinant strategies and nomadic thinking create complex images that investigate the contemporary sublime and states of being. Tileston (b. Manila, Philippines) spent her childhood as an itinerant “Third Culture Kid”, living in the Philippines, India, England, and France, before moving to the US. She has a B.A. from Yale University and an MFA from Indiana University. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions in Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, and Dallas, and group exhibitions at the Contemporary Arts Museum (Houston), Art in General and the Painting Center (New York), and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art. Tileston is the recipient of the Core Fellowship Residency, the Pew Fellowship in the Arts (2004), the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Residency (2005), the Guggenheim Fellowship (2006), and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award (2011) and residency (2017).

Sam is a physicist who is alternately interested in, excited by, and afraid of the imminent future of machine learning and artificial intelligence. He lives in West Philadelphia and has a very cute dog.
Kellie Mecleary is a producer, director, and dramaturg. She has been a proud member of the Wilma Artistic staff since January 2017. She holds a Master’s Degree in Performance Studies from New York University and a BA in English and Theater from Goucher College. Kellie has worn a variety of hats within a variety of organizations, primarily in Baltimore and New York; including Center Stage, Single Carrot Theatre, Deep Vision Dance Company, the BROS (Baltimore Rock Opera Society), Center for International Theater Development, Pipeline Theater Company, WOW Café Theater, and others.
