Step into the world where poetry meets performance! In this dynamic two-session spoken word poetry workshop, you’ll be equipped with a Poetry Toolbox, packed with Literary Tools to help with writing, alongside Performance Tools to enhance the delivery of your poems. Through live performances, interactive exercises, and creative challenges, you’ll craft and embody your own spoken word pieces—seamlessly blending theatre and poetry to subvert expectations and captivate an audience. By the end, you’ll have a taste of being a poet, playwright, and performer all in one!
What You’ll Do:
More About this Class:
No prior writing or theatre experience? No problem! This workshop is for everyone, though poets and actors should definitely feel at home. All you need is a notebook, a writing utensil, and an open mind. Over the course of two sessions, you’ll craft two original spoken word pieces while learning practical tools to strengthen both your writing and stage presence. Each class is designed to be a chill, supportive space where you can take creative risks, experiment with performance, and share your voice with confidence. Expect to write, perform, and be inspired—not just by your own work, but by your fellow students and your instructor, an award-winning spoken word poet, actress, and author. Let’s build, uplift, and make magic with words!
