ARCHDUKE follows the young men who assassinated the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in 1914. The play travels with them, with particular focus on Bosnian Serb Gavrilo Princip, through their recruitment to the assassination in Sarajewo, which is widely considered to be the flash point for WWI. ARCHDUKE addresses many questions that clearly continue to plague society long after the conclusion of these events. What happens when a person feels like they have nothing left to lose? What methods are acceptable in the fight against oppression? How do we know we are “thinking for ourselves”?

Join us for a special one-night-only event! Wilma Theater’s
Founding Artistic Director Blanka Zizka returns to the Wilma for one night to present a staged reading of Rajiv Joseph’s ARCHDUKE on February 29th.
The reading will be performed by a select group of our very own Wilma HotHouse Acting Company members.
Curtain is at 7 PM with a talk-back with Blanka Zizka and Rajiv Joseph following the performance.
Please stay after the talk-back for a post-show reception with light refreshments! A cash bar will be available.
