Walter Bilderback came to the Wilma in the fall of 2004. Before that, he been a staff dramaturg at theaters across the country, including the Alliance in Atlanta, Dallas Theater Center, Baltimore Center Stage, and La Jolla Playhouse, and a guest dramaturg at theaters including the Center for Puppetry Arts. In 1988, he was the first dramaturg budgeted for a Broadway show (Lee Blessing’s A Walk in the Woods). He also led the Theater program at Georgia College for five years. In a pre-theater life Walter was an organizer for the Industrial Workers of the World. At the Wilma, he’s proud to have been involved with a range of exciting productions, including Pillowman, Galileo, Eurydice, Rock’n’Roll, Leaving, Scorched, In the Next Room, Our Class, Angels in America, The Hard Problem, three productions of Shakespeare, and There, as well as being involved in the development of the HotHouse acting company.
